DO NOT TRUNCATE YOUR GREAT DESTINY

1 Kings 11:9-11, 43;
“And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.
Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.”
Solomon the son of David though ordinarily was not next in line to reign was chosen by GOD, overstepping all his elder brothers, to be King over Israel.
To prove his appointment to be of divine authority, GOD gave him unprecedented wisdom, knowledge, understanding and wealth; so that there was none like him before nor after.
We read from the Scriptures that GOD revealed Himself twice to Solomon—the best gift the LORD would give anyone as a token of His love.
Obviously, Solomon was destined for greatness and would have enjoyed longevity of reigning over Israel, if only he would obey the command and statutes of the LORD.
But unfortunately, all the glories bestowed on Solomon and his reign would come to an end shortly. A few years after all this splendour, we read from 1 Kings 11:1ff, that Solomon “loved many strange women” and departed from the LORD who had designed such a great destiny for him.
Instead of dealing with his large appetite for women, which was a threat to his kingship and great future, Solomon let loose his ungodly appetite. And against all the warnings of the LORD, he allowed these strange women to turn his heart away from the LORD to worship many idols.
These despicable acts of Solomon shortened his life and reign. And before his glory was soon come to an end, GOD spoke against him making it clear to him that HE would rend the kingdom from him. What a pity!
There are several examples of people who would have enjoyed great destinies in the Holy Scriptures—Samson (Judges 16), King Saul (1 Samuel 31), and the young Prophet sent by THE LORD (1 Kings 13) to name a few.
But, they all ended it prematurely like Solomon—all attributed to disobedience and untamed appetite.
Beloved, let us deal with the things that are threats to our Salvation, lives and great destinies. Because, as children of GOD, the LORD has designed great destinies for us indeed.
Let us humbly and “sheepishly” obey THE LORD and allow HIM to propel us into our great destinies.
Once again, beloved, please remember, DO NOT TRUNCATE YOUR GREAT DESTINY.
Amen amen May the Lord strengthen us to overcome our Weakness in Jesus name, so that we can have the strength to overcome the evil one and his plans in Jesus Christ name.
God bless HSM
