THE CHRISTIAN’S NEED OF THE SHOWERS OF BLESSING

As Christians, we have been likened to many professions in the Bible (NT):

. We’ve been compared to Builders—as builders, the most important thing we need is tools to work with.

. Again we’ve been compared to Fishers—as fishers, the most important thing we need is a net and a boat to fish with.

. We’ve also been compared to Travellers—as travellers, the most important thing we need is our bags for preparation.

. But we also have been compared to Farmers—and as farmers, the most important thing we need is the Showers of Blessing.

Beloved, we are farmers; whatever we do or say are seeds we are planting. The positive confessions we make on our lives are seeds. The Word of GOD we listen to and study are seeds. The Prophetic declarations we receive are seeds and so are the dreams we have also being seeds, etc;

But, all we need now, is for the Showers of Blessing to fall upon us from above.

Unfortunately, though such activities regarding seed planting are abundant in modern-day Christendom, yet, the majority of Christians see little or no yield in their lives, simply because, many lack the Showers of Blessing in their lives.

In Ezekiel 34:25-27, we see GOD, after meting out a devastating punishment on His people, Israel—because of their rebellion—through the Prophet give a message of hope to them.

A Message of Hope where He promises them a new covenant of peace, a return to their land, and to bless them agriculturally by sending the Showers of Blessing, which are the early rains to prepare and make their land fertile for a great harvest that would sustain them.

Thus, He would accomplish His Plan and Purpose for them, since He was not done with them.

Likewise, GOD has a Plan and a Purpose for all His children today, who are spiritual Israelites (referred to here as farmers). But, like the Israelites needed the showers (rain) that time, we also need the spiritual showers to thrive and fulfill the Plan and Purpose of our HEAVENLY FATHER.

Unlike the Israelites whose showers were physical rain, the Showers we need represent:

. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1f)—who will break the grounds for our greater accomplishments.

. The undeniable Favour of GOD (Esther 5:1f)—which will sail us through every stage wherever we go.

. Renewal of Divine Strength (Judges 15:14-19)—which will keep us going even when the battle gets tougher; without which we cannot achieve anything for GOD and our lives.

Again, we need these showers upon our lives, because;

. The world is hostile to us—not ready to help or work with us

. The forces opposing us are real—always working tooth and nail to see us fail

. Without it we will get tired and fall off in the way.

These and many other reasons are why we, as of necessity, need the Showers of Blessing upon our lives as children of GOD, so as to succeed. May these Showers of Blessing never cease to pour upon us in our LORD JESUS CHRIST'S MIGHTY NAME!.
