THE NAME OF THE LORD

Have you ever sat down to really study about the Names of GOD?

When the wise man said in Proverbs 18:10 that, ‘the name of the LORD Is a strong tower’, it wasn’t just a statement of faith, but also literally meant so.

This is because, every single Name of GOD revealed speaks to that; and if we get to understand that, then we will in every situation call upon the wonderful Name(Names) given us.

YAHWEH or ADONAI, the Prime Name, means Master or LORD, telling us that HE is actually over all and in control; hence, HE is in control of every situation.

"He will swallow up death forever; and the [Adonai] GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth"

~ Isaiah 25:8

EL ELYON means Most High, expressing the extreme Sovereignty of GOD; hence, no situation goes beyond HIM.

“Blessed be Abram by God Most High [EL ELYON], maker of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High [EL ELYON], who has delivered your enemies into your hand!”

~ Genesis 14:29

YAHWEH NISSI means THE LORD our banner (of victory). Hence, when war rises against us, HE lifts HIS banner over us granting us victory.

“And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi:”

EL SHADDAI means the ALMIGHTY GOD—unsurpassable. Indeed many mighty ones roam the earth (with evil powers), but, HE is the Only ALMIGHTY who is able to trample them underfoot. Thus, believers need not fear when HE is our Rearguard.

“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God [EL SHADDAI] ; walk before me, and be thou perfect.”

~ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

JEHOVAH JIREH means LORD our sustainer who nourishes us with all blessings and good things. Therefore, when we are in our lowest moments, HE is able to sustain us.

“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”

YAHWEH RAPHA means the LORD who heals. So, when we are suffering, HE comes to our aid to heal us.

“and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee [JEHOVAH-RAPHA].”

IMMANUEL means GOD with us. Showing us that we are never alone. Whatever the situation may be, so long as we trust in HIM and abide in HIS Ways, HE is forever with us. We are never alone—“I will never leave nor forsake you”—Hebrews 13:5b;

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

These are just a few out of the many names of GOD revealed for our benefit, and so, once we call on HIM in every situation, HE comes in as we need specifically to attend to us.

But, let us never forget another Name HE has. It is One above all others—JESUS. Meaning GOD is our Salvation, it shows us that no matter wherever we may have gotten to, so long as we have breath, when we call on HIS MIGHTY NAME, HE is able to deliver to the uttermost.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Why don’t you call on HIM as your situation demands, and watch HIM do what only GOD can do?

The Name of the LORD is indeed a Strong Tower, the righteous runs to it and is saved. Just lead a righteous life and call on HIM.

Proverbs 18:10; “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
