THE UNFAILING COMFORTER

Key verse:

2 Corinthians 1:3-4;

“Praise be to GOD and FATHER of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST, the FATHER of compassion and the GOD of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from GOD”.

Life may not be easy. It comes with its struggles and battles. Some, physical and almost tangible. Whilst others are spiritual, yet so fierce.

At times, life feels like an unpleasant rollercoaster. There are disappointments and hurts here and there. It happens to both the believer and the unbeliever.

HE never promised that the journey would be easy. HE never said it would be devoid of hardships and down moments.

But there are certain things we’re assured of; that HE’ll be with us every step in the way. And also, that both the sweet and the bitter will surely work together for our good.

We do not have a HIGH PRIEST who feels not our pain. HIS word didn’t say we won’t go through fire nor the deep waters (Isaiah 43:2).

But it also says we’ll not do so in solitude. HE is with us.

You might be familiar with the story of the footprints in the sand:

A man once dreamt of walking a path in the sand with CHRIST. He observed two pairs of footprints in the sand, but as they journeyed on, it got darker and unpleasant, then he noticed just a pair of footprints in the sand.

He felt dejected and alone, only to hear the LORD whisper, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never will I forsake you during trials and testing times. When you saw just one pair of footprints in the sand, it was then that I carried you”.

What a loving and compassionate COMPANION!

Know that HE is surely with those who stick with HIM through every phase. Be comforted! Be of good cheer and forge on, for you’re not alone.
